: The Election Commission of India has released the draft electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh, giving voters an opportunity to check their details and report any errors ahead of the upcoming elections.
Voters can verify their names in the draft list by visiting the official portal, voters.eci.gov.in. The administration has clarified that the public has a one-month window to raise complaints related to the addition, deletion or correction of names in the voter list.
According to officials, claims and objections can be submitted from January 6 to February 6. The aim is to prepare an error-free final electoral roll before polls. The final voter list will be published on March 6.
UP SIR Draft Voter List: What If Your Name Is Missing?
If a voter finds that their name has been left out of the draft roll, they can apply again by submitting Form 6. Those who notice spelling mistakes or incorrect personal details can use Form 8 for corrections.
These forms can be filled online through voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET mobile application. Voters can also choose the offline option by contacting their Booth Level Officer (BLO) and submitting the required forms in person.
Special Notice For Deleted Voters
The Election Commission will issue notices to voters whose names are missing from the 2003 voter list. Such voters will need to submit proof to support their claim. Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer said that untraceable or deleted voters must show evidence of inclusion in the 2003 SIR list or other documents prescribed by the poll body to get their names restored.
Documents Required For Adding Name
As per Election Commission guidelines, voters may submit any of the following documents:
- Identity card or pension order issued by Central or State government bodies or PSUs
- Government-issued documents or certificates issued before July 1, 1987
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- Matriculation or educational certificate
- Permanent residence certificate
- Forest Rights Certificate
- OBC, SC or ST caste certificate
- National Register of Citizens (where applicable)
- Family register prepared by local authorities
- Government-issued land or house allotment certificate
- Extract of the Bihar SIR electoral roll with reference to July 1, 2025
