UP Sports and Youth Welfare Minister (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav reviewed the preparations for the effective implementation of the Sports Department's plans for the year 2025-26.
In a meeting held at his government office, he directed the officials to organise a state-level sports festival soon, where players of different age groups will showcase their talent. Yadav emphasised the need for better arrangements for the appointment of sports coaches, provision of sports materials, and maintenance of stadiums in all districts.
The Sports Minister said that efforts should be made to bring Uttar Pradesh into the list of leading states in sports. Players are getting opportunities to showcase their talent at national and international levels under the Khelo India scheme.
In such a situation, full emphasis should be given to providing better facilities to the players. He said that sports talents should be identified and brought forward in rural areas, especially backward areas.
Emphasis should be given to make all sports facilities available to them in the district. The Sports Minister directed that better work should be done on the new sports policy. Facilities including career development, scholarships, and insurance for players should be easily available.
Yadav directed the departmental officers to complete the construction work of stadiums, hostels, etc. Should be of good quality. Action should be taken against the executing agencies who fail to complete the construction work with quality and on time.
