The spell of intense sunshine over the past few days has increased humidity levels across Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is expected in eastern UP, including Lucknow and nearby districts, between September 30 and October 3. However, from October 4, the weather is likely to shift again, with bright sunshine returning.
Currently, scattered showers are proving beneficial for paddy cultivation. Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh informed that the drizzle being witnessed in parts of southern and eastern UP will end by Monday, with clear skies prevailing.
From Tuesday onwards, however, more than 35 districts, including the state capital, may experience light to moderate rainfall, leading to a dip in both maximum and minimum temperatures.
The monsoon has already begun its retreat from Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir since Friday, and it is expected to withdraw from the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh by the first week of October.
Meanwhile, a depression forming in the Bay of Bengal is intensifying, likely affecting southern and western UP. Scattered drizzle is particularly expected in Bundelkhand and some parts of Awadh, including Lucknow.
