UP Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness a sharp drop in temperature in the upcoming days. The weather department stated that the western regions are set to experience a cold wave and dense fog, especially in the early hours. The presence of fog has severely affected the flight and train services, leading to inconveniences for the passengers. However, the weather department clarified that the temperature will surge after January 15, providing major relief to the residents. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings in the morning and evening hours.
Dense Fog Alert
While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts, including Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Baghpat, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Rampur, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur, and Basti, are set to witness a cold wave and dense fog for the upcoming days. While there will not be a significant drop in temperature on Monday, the cold wave is set to trouble the residents of these districts from January 13 onwards. The maximum temperature on Monday is expected to be calculated at 21 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees Celsius lower than on Sunday.

The weather in the northern states has significantly changed in the past two days due to a Western Disturbance active over Pakistan and Punjab and a cyclonic circulation over Haryana. While the strong wind helped to dissipate dense fog on Sunday, the western regions are likely to witness fog for the next few days. The presence of fog has lowered the visibility and led to several road accidents in the past few weeks.
The influence of the western disturbance led to changes in wind speed, resulting in a decrease in fog density and an increase in temperature, reported Jagran.com. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, several other states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, are also likely to witness a cold wave for the next few days.
