UP Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a shift in weather conditions for Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening. Officials have warned of the possibility of rainfall late at night, and have indicated that showers may continue until tomorrow.
A western region has become active over the Himalayan mountains. Its effects will be felt in the plains as well as the mountains. Rain activity will occur in Meerut and many parts of the NCR until the morning of January 27 and 28. Three to four spells of rain will be seen in the interval. Prior to this, Meerut witnessed its first winter rain on Basant Panchami. This rainfall is said to be beneficial for the wheat and sugarcane crops.
The 24-hour rainfall recorded on Basant Panchami met the entire monthly quota, with a total of 20.8 mm of precipitation. The next spell of rain, forecast for January 27, is expected to be more widespread, with its impact reaching cities like Lucknow and Kanpur.
In another update, on the occasion of Republic Day, 35 police personnel were honoured with the Chief Minister's Gallantry Medal and the Chief Minister's Commendation Letter for their brave and excellent work in UP. 10 police personnel were given the Chief Minister's Gallantry Medal for acts of bravery, and 25 police personnel received the Chief Minister's Commendation Letter for excellent and commendable service.
Police personnel honoured with the Gallantry Medal were given the medal, a commendation letter, and an incentive of Rs 1,000 per month. Police personnel receiving the commendation letter were given a one-time cash amount of Rs 25,000.
