UP Suicide: A woman died after ingesting poison in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, and her husband and brother-in-law have been detained for abetment of suicide, police said on Saturday. The woman's father filed a complaint alleging that his daughter Babita (22) was mistreated by her husband, Pankaj Kumar Turaha (28) and brother-in-law Sachin (22).
Disturbed by the harassment and torment, she died on Friday after consuming poison at her in-laws' residence in Middha village, according to her father, Rajendra Prasad.
After receiving information about the occurrence, police came on the spot and sent the body of the deceased to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.
SHO Ajay Kumar Tripathi stated that a case has been made against Pankaj and Sachin (22), based on a complaint filed by Prasad, under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the police, both accused were detained and brought to jail on Saturday. The couple married five years ago.
In another incident, a newly wed woman was murdered by In-laws as her family was unable to fulfill additional dowry demand. Officials on Saturday said that Sapna, wife of wife of Narendra Chauhan, was found hanging with ceiling fan at her marital house in Kotwa village, under the Maniyar Police Station area in Ballia.
The position in which her body was discovered suggested that she committed suicide, police said. Police reached at crime location as soon the information was received and took the body into custody before sending it for post-mortem, Maniyar Station House Officer Ratnesh Dubey stated.
