Uttar Pradesh News: The names of three railway stations in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh have been renamed with immediate effect. The stations have been named after deities connected with these places.
According to the circular issued, the name of Pratapgarh railway station has been renamed to Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction. Anti station has been renamed to Maa Chandika Devi Dham Antu and Bishnatganj renamed to Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj.
A senior railway official said: “The Union Home Ministry has approved the change of names of these stations. Now, the Railway Board will issue a formal notification, after which the names of these stations would be changed. ”
Pratapgarh MP Sangam Lal Gupta had proposed to the Union Railways Ministry that the names of Pratapgarh Junction, Antu, and Bishnathganj railway stations be changed due to their religious significance.
Vinod Sonkar, a Kaushambhi MP, suggested to the government in 2020 to rename Kunda Harnamganj station as Kripalu Maharaj as Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj was born here.
The proposal has been sent to the Railways and Home Ministries, and the process is underway.
