To establish a precise and digital land record system, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to commence drone survey work in urban areas starting next year. This initiative is part of the central Department of Land Resources' Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP). Following the completion of land surveys in rural areas, the focus has now shifted to creating accurate digital maps for the state's cities.
Pilot Project: Anup Shahar A pilot survey has been underway in Anup Shahar since February 18. The location was selected due to its manageable size, featuring a population of approximately 46,000 and 10,000 houses.
Current Status: The drone survey component is nearly finished, and physical verification of the data is currently in progress.
Next Steps: Once this pilot is fully completed, a comprehensive work plan will be formulated to extend the survey to other urban local bodies.
Scope And Benefits Of The Survey
The survey aims to develop an Integrated Land Information Management System. Unlike previous maps, which were primarily designed for tax purposes, these new digital maps will clarify land ownership rights and help curb fraud in property transactions.
The survey will generate data on:
Land Use: Industrial zones, markets, residential areas, and green spaces.
Infrastructure: Roads and railway tracks.
Water Bodies: Ponds and rivers.
This data will be used to create digital maps of revenue records and residential colonies. The project involves geo-referencing, a process that links digital maps or images to real-world geographical coordinates, ensuring high accuracy.
First Phase Implementation
The Revenue Department has identified specific urban bodies for the first phase of the rollout. These include:
- Tanda
- Nawabganj
- Chitrakoot Dham
- Gorakhpur
- Hardoi
- Jhansi
- Chunar
- Puranpur
- Tilhar
