Who Was Dr Shyam Bihari Lal? BJP MLA From UP's Faridpur Dies Of Heart Attack; CM Yogi Condoles Death

BJP MLA Shyam Bihari Lal Death: Dr Shyam Bihari Lal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Faridpur in Uttar Pradesh, died of a heart attack on Friday. Earlier, he had reportedly attended a meeting with Cabinet Minister Dharampal Singh, during which he suddenly fell ill. He was rushed to Medisity Hospital on Pilibhit Road, where he was pronounced dead.

He was the incumbent legislator from the Faridpur constituency in Bareilly district and had celebrated his 60th birthday just a day before on January 1.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over the sudden demise of Dr Shyam Bihari Lal. He described the death of the BJP MLA as “extremely saddening” and paid his tribute.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote, “The sudden demise of the Honourable MLA Dr Shyam Bihari Lal Ji from the Faridpur Assembly Constituency of Bareilly District is extremely heartbreaking. Humble tribute. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the departed soul be granted a place at His divine feet and that the grieving family be bestowed with the strength to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti!”

Who Was Dr Shyam Bihari Lal? From Academics To Two-Time BJP MLA

Dr Shyam Bihari Lal, a resident of Shakti Nagar Colony on Pilibhit Road, served as the Head of the History Department at Rohilkhand University. Shyam first entered politics in 2012, where he contested the Faridpur (Reserved) Assembly on a BJP ticket but lost by a small margin.

In 2017, he secured victory in the Faridpur constituency by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Dr Siyaram Sagar. He retained the seat in the 2022 elections, establishing himself as a key political leader in the Faridpur region.
