Dehradun Municipal Corporation has cleared a major proposal aimed at modernising the city’s traffic management system and improving working conditions for police personnel. The corporation has approved redesigned high-tech traffic umbrellas and police booths, which will soon be installed across nine major intersections in the city. Additionally, seven new police booths have been proposed at other locations.

Many of the old structures were previously removed due to Smart City works and road widening. After reviewing ongoing development projects and conducting a joint survey, the corporation has now given the green signal for reinstating them. Walp Advertising Private Limited, the firm earlier awarded the tender, has been directed to immediately begin work based on the revised designs.

According to the company’s Regional Head, Paras Malik, the new structures will feature high-quality glass for better visibility and weather protection. Designed as comfortable and functional workspaces, the traffic umbrellas and booths will offer complete protection from heat, rain, and cold, enabling personnel to monitor traffic efficiently.

The Municipal Corporation has also instructed the company to deposit the prescribed advertising fees for previously removed sites into the corporation’s treasury by March 6, 2026.

Key Locations:

-Dilaram Chowk: Traffic umbrella near the electricity pole on the road to Ghantaghar.
