Dehradun’s historic Ghantaghar (Clock Tower), considered the city’s identity and heartbeat, is once again functioning accurately. Responding to public complaints about the clock displaying incorrect time, District Magistrate Savin Bansal took prompt action and approved funds for its repair.
The Chennai-based specialist firm Indian Clocks was assigned the restoration work. During inspection, engineers discovered faults in the clock’s wiring, GPS, loudspeaker, and bell system.
All defective components were replaced, bringing the clock back to full operation. With the repairs complete, the Ghantaghar’s chimes can now be heard resonating through the city once again.
Earlier, the district administration had also undertaken the tower’s beautification project, which was inaugurated and dedicated to the public by the Chief Minister.
