A car carrying wedding guests from the Seraghat area of Pithoragarh district to Pati in Champawat met with a tragic accident late last night. The incident occurred late Thursday night as the guests were returning from Balatadi in Pati. The vehicle lost control and fell into a deep gorge near the Ghat area.
Five people, including a mother and her son, lost their lives in the accident, while five others sustained injuries. The injured have been rushed to the Lohaghat Sub-District Hospital for treatment. It is reported that the group was returning to their village after the conclusion of the wedding ceremony.
The Disaster
Operation Centre received information about the incident at 3:00 AM. Immediately following the report, teams from the SDRF, police, and local administration were dispatched to the site. The administration is currently compiling details regarding the deceased. The bodies have been retrieved from the gorge and transported to the Lohaghat Sub-District Hospital.
Details Of The Vehicle And Crash
There were 10 people traveling in the vehicle, a Bolero with registration number UK 04 TB 2074. The vehicle fell into a gorge approximately 200 meters deep.

- 32-year-old Suresh Nautiyal.
