'New Generation's GST': Uttarakhand CM Dhami Hails Simpler 5% and 18% Slabs

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has praised the central government's decision regarding GST. According to him, this 'new generation GST' will bring prosperity to everyone's lives, from farmers and entrepreneurs to regular households and businesses.

In a social media post, he wrote that a new chapter of GST reforms is beginning in the country, thanks to the skilled guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the strong commitment of the central government. Making the system much simpler, only two GST slabs—5 per cent and 18 per cent will now be implemented.

He said that this is a historic decision that will not only give direct relief to ordinary citizens but will also strengthen medium and small industries and small traders. He added that this decision will also benefit many important sectors like agriculture, health, education, automobiles, and electronics.

The Chief Minister specifically mentioned Uttarakhand, saying that for a state like ours which is based on tourism, this reform will prove to be especially beneficial. A lower tax burden will encourage investment in the state, which will also create new job opportunities for the youth.

He ended by saying, "On behalf of all the people of the state, I sincerely thank the honorable Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister, Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, for this historic decision."
