In Tehri district, three young men died and two were seriously injured after a Scorpio car carrying wedding guests lost control and plunged into a 300-metre-deep gorge on the Gular-Motor road on Wednesday night. All five occupants are reported to be from the Shyampur area of Rishikesh.

According to the information, the men were part of a wedding procession (baraat) that had traveled from Gumaniwala in Rishikesh to Nai village in Dogi Patti, Narendranagar block.

The victims, identified as 31-year-old Vimal Kandiyal, 23-year-old Rahul Kaluda, 26-year-old Ashish Kaluda and Tanuj Pundir, and 21-year-old Nikhil Ramola, were traveling to Nai village in the Scorpio. At approximately 8 pm, their vehicle lost control and fell into the gorge near Kundia village, 18 km before Gular.

Munikireti police station officer in charge, Inspector Pradeep Chauhan, stated that Nikhil Ramola, who was in the vehicle, managed to inform a friend about the accident by phone and also sent his Google location.

Based on this information, police and SDRF teams reached the scene and commenced rescue operations. SDRF Inspector Kavindra Sajwan reported that by the time the teams arrived, Vimal, Rahul and Ashish had died. Nikhil and Tanuj were found to be seriously injured.
