The Uttarakhand government has approved multiple sewer line projects under theDrinking Water Corporation (Peyjal Nigam) to strengthen urban infrastructure across the state. In a high-level committee meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan cleared the Rs 9.48 crore Atal Marg (Nawabi Road) to Kaladhungi Road Trunk Sewerage Scheme in Haldwani, along with a Rs 9.05 crore sewerage network project for Saket Colony and Canal Road in Dehradun.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to prepare a comprehensive sewer plan for areas of Dehradun that remain uncovered by the existing network, emphasising the need for mapping the entire city to identify priority zones.
He said the aim should be to ensure last-mile sewer line connectivity across the Dehradun region.
During the meeting, Bardhan also reviewed the current status of sewer infrastructure in Dehradun and sought detailed updates from officials. The meeting was attended by Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Dr V Shanmugam, and senior officers from the Drinking Water Corporation.
