Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred Rs 12.89 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to 4,224 registered labourers under various welfare schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The transfer was carried out during a programme held at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, where Dhami also inaugurated dedicated support services for labourers at 191 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative would significantly ease access to government schemes for labourers. With services now available at CSCs at the block, tehsil, and village levels, labourers will no longer need to visit government offices for registration, renewal, or benefit-related applications, he said.

Dhami described the move as part of the government’s “simplification and solution-oriented” approach, aimed at ensuring faster, transparent, and hassle-free delivery of benefits. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of labourers and providing them with financial security, social protection, and a dignified livelihood through various welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s focus on skill development and training programmes to strengthen employment opportunities for labourers and their dependents. Emphasising the role of workers in the state’s development, he said their contribution to infrastructure growth and economic progress was invaluable.

According to Dhami, over Rs 51 crore has been transferred to labourers and their family members through DBT in the past six months. He added that systems for registration, renewal, and benefit applications have already been strengthened at the development block level.

Labour Commissioner PC Dumka said the Workers’ Welfare Board is continuously working to safeguard the interests of labourers under the Chief Minister’s leadership. He added that welfare schemes would continue to be implemented in line with the government’s vision of “simplification, solution, resolution, and satisfaction.”

Senior officials, including State Contract Labour Advisory Board Chairman Kailash Pant, Deputy Labour Commissioner Vipin Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Dharmaraj, IT expert Durga Chamoli, and other officials, were present at the event.
