Prioritising child safety and public health, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched a state-wide drive against cough syrups and unlicensed medicines in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Rudraprayag.

In Dehradun, the team sealed stocks of cough syrups found in 10 medical shops near the Government Doon Medical College Hospital. Samples of raw materials used in the manufacturing of these medicines were also collected.

Acting under the directions of Commissioner R Rajesh Kumar and Additional Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi, a team led by Drug Inspector Manendra Singh Rana inspected medical stores and wholesale firms in the area. Syrups prescribed for children were found stored separately and were sealed on the spot, with strict instructions issued to halt their sale until further orders.
