10 Most Spoken Languages In World: With around 8.1 billion people living on our tiny planet Earth, it's only natural that not everyone can speak the same language in every ‘corner’ of the globe. This brings us to the next point; there are roughly 7000 languages that are spoken in the world, as per reports. Although every language carries its own history and value, there still has to be one that is spread all across the world regardless of being a ‘non-native’ to certain nations. Well, for today, we thought to take a look at the same. We found out about the 10 most known and spoken languages around the world and thought to walk you through them. The list was compiled by ‘Berlitz’. 

Here are the 10 most spoken languages in the world:

English

The first on the list is English. The language might have 372.9 million people as its first speakers, but the total number of people speaking the language around the globe is more than a whopping 1.4 billion.

Mandarin

The next language on the list with more than 1.1 billion speakers is Mandarin. The language is native to China and has 929 million people as its native speakers. 

Hindi

Source: FreepikOn the third spot, we have India’s native language- Hindi. The language has around 343.9 million first speakers, while a total of 602 million people know Hindi.

Spanish

With Spain next in line, the fourth most spoken language is Spanish. There are around 474.7 million first speakers of this language. 

French

Another most known and spoken language around the globe is French, with more than 274 million speakers. It is on the fifth spot on the list. 

Modern Standard Arabic

Despite having not a single native speaker, the next language on the list of most spoken languages in the world is Modern Standard Arabic. It is spoken by 274 million people. 

Bengali 

With 272.7 million total speakers, Bengali is mostly spoken in Bangladesh, and in some parts of India as well.

The eighth language on the list is Russian. There are around 258.2 million people who can speak the language in the world, while it has 154 million people as its native speakers. 

Portuguese

The language on the ninth spot in the list is Portuguese. It is spoken by a total of 257.7 million people around the globe.

Urdu

The last language on the list is spoken in several countries and has 231.3 million people as its total speakers. Urdu is especially heard in Islamic countries like Pakistan. The language is also spoken in India, along with Hindi.
