89-Year-Old Mumbai Grandma Viral Video: In a city where everyone is always in a hurry, some stories quietly slow you down. One such moment unfolded inside a crowded Mumbai local train, where an elderly woman’s simple presence left commuters deeply moved. Every afternoon, while passengers rush to their destinations, this woman steps into a train coach carrying a small pouch filled with handmade beaded bracelets. At 89 years old, she isn’t asking for help or sympathy. She is there to earn, with dignity and determination written all over her face.
A fellow traveller noticed her and decided to strike up a conversation, later sharing the moment on Instagram. In the video, the woman calmly walks through the compartment, offering her bracelets to passengers. When asked her name, she replies, 'Kamalaben Mehta.' Her age surprises everyone when she softly says, '89.' She also shares that she lives in Nalasopara and earns money so she can contribute to her household and continue staying with her family.

The video shared on Instagram by the handle 'meetatushitshah' described the encounter in touching words: "Both heartening and strengthening? Met an eighty-nine-year-old lady climbing into the Mumbai local train in the afternoon, selling bracelets. I wished to buy all but couldn’t due to limited cash. She stated that she had to pay her family for her stay but didn’t give her address, so the family wouldn’t face shame. Women's empowerment indeed."
The video quickly struck an emotional chord online, with many viewers praising Kamalaben’s strength, independence and self-respect. "Why does a mother have to pay her family for her stay.... shameful at the age where she has to sell to eat," a user wrote. "Seriously.. It's heart-melting. She said ke she has to pay at home ..means ghar pe kese log he that she has to work at this age. Actually its illegal, nah. If a child worker is illegal, then old age work person should also be illegal," a second user added.
