Time and again, animals have proved that they have more humanity than humans. From saving people from possible harassment and kidnappings to finding and protecting abandoned human newborns on the streets, social media is full of wholesome yet saddening stories and videos that have turned animals into uncapped heroes. Now, to remind the same to people, an IFC officer urged people to ‘behave like animals’ while visiting forests and other tourist spots. Confused? Well, giving examples of the animals ‘not littering and leaving trash behind’, the officer took a ‘dig’ at people for trashing the forest areas.

The said post went viral as it also had a few pictures of a cleanliness drive that was taken out by some officials, including a forest ranger.

The post was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘ParveenKaswan’. The post was captioned, “Dukchen Bhutia is our range officer. Went to the field with a group. Found a lot of trash thrown by tourists and decided to collect it all. She is showing the way. In the Forest behave like animals, they don’t spread the trash.”

The video, soon after getting shared, went viral and gained reactions and suggestions from people about maintaining cleanliness around them. Most criticised people in general for their lack of basic respect for the environment, while some others suggested they began the same practice from their homes instead. The post was shared yesterday and pulled 51K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “I have one idea, cleanliness, it must start with people, Esp an early age. So for the initiative, every school and college, make a cleanliness program on Saturday, all students must participate, to clean nearby parks, beaches, temples & tourist places. So everyone got the awareness,” a user said. “This is probably one of the reasons why Lakshadweep and Andaman need to be protected from tourism... We kind of lack discipline with regards to waste management” joined a second person. “It all starts at home, society, and school. It’s sad watching such behaviour,” said another.

“Most of the tourist Indians litter in every corner either they would spit, throw cigarette buds or plastic,” said another. “Plastic should be banned at the entrance of the forest safari area if this is one. Strictly to be done,” said next.
