Viral Video: The Bengaluru metro faced major heat from the public, after a video of some security personnel denying entry to a poor farmer from boarding the metro surfaced online. The incident, for obvious reasons, was quick to trigger half the internet. The said video was being recorded by another man, who was visibly disappointed after finding out about the situation. He was seen arguing with the security guards on behalf of the poor man. What further made people lose their calm was the reason behind the denial; the farmer’s ‘poor’ attire. Not to forget that the farmer also had a valid ticket with him.

As per the video, the security found the farmer’s dress code ‘poor’, as the man was in a simple Kurta, with some luggage on his head. The incident, as per the viral video, took place at the Rajajinagar metro station, whereas the date was not confirmed.

The video, soon after getting shared, gained mass attention and left people angry. Many also tagged the higher authorities so that the video would come under the notice of the correct official. As per the reports, a security supervisor was later sacked after the incident triggered a controversy.

The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the user ‘DeepakN172’. The post was captioned, “UNBELIEVABLE..! Is the metro only for VIPs? Is there a dress code for using Metro? I appreciate the actions of Karthik C Airani, who fought for the rights of a farmer at Rajajinagar metro station. We need more such heroes everywhere. @OfficialBMRCL trains your officials properly. #metro.”

Most chastised the behaviour that was displayed by the security guards, and the rest sided with the man fighting for the poor man who was denied entry despite a valid ticket. Many also urged authorities to take action against the entire thing and the security guards responsible for the matter. The post was shared a few days ago and pulled 427K views from people.

Taking to the comment box, people shared their take. “Any idea if he has finally taken the ride finally?” a user said. “This is disgraceful, metro management shouldn’t disrespect a person for his dress code. U people allow those who wear full short dresses or similar like that. This man actually wore an Indian dress code. U have some shame to question him for his dress code,” said another.

“The metros in India are controlled by the Ministry of Railways GOI kindly complain to them.. Too,” said another. “People who feel the real meaning of Namma metro can do such good things… it’s ours, for our people, heartening to see such things,” said another. “Sir Really this is a modern-day apartheid practised in Metro. I know you're going through a lot of agony and pain but I am sure you're still capable of at least reaching this to the right people and issuing a strict warning and guidelines,” said another.

“These security guys are untrained and think of metros as aeroplanes. Misbehaviour has become a daily thing with them. One security was denying me entry for carrying 100 gms chutney pudi,” said another.
