After the failure of Chandrayaan 2, the country, especially ISRO, pinned a lot of hopes on the third Moon mission by India. Chandrayaan 3 is the recent Indian lunar exploration mission that was launched on July 14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh. After achieving the Moon landing on its South Pole, India became the first and the sole nation to achieve the feat. India has also become the fourth nation to achieve a soft landing on the Moon, after the US, Russia, and China.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually attended the historic event. With the national flag held in his hand, the prime minister expressed his joy over the success of the mission and congratulated the nation. PM Modi is currently in South Africa's Johannesburg to attend the 15th BRICS Summit that is being held from August 22 to 24.
