Government-run facilities continue to face public’s wrath as yet another questionable video surfaced online and left people irked. Leading to multiple health and safety-related concerns, a video of a rat eating and infesting the canteen food at a government hospital in Chennai was shared on multiple social media platforms. The incident reportedly took place at the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital. The horrifying revelation took place when a patient’s relative reportedly went to the canteen to have some food, but instead ended up encountering the concerning sight. A video of the same was shared for everyone to see, who were quick to chastise the hospital authorities after watching the video.
The video was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) by the user ‘vani_mehrotra’. The post was captioned, “Video shows a rat crawling over food items kept at Stanley Government hospital canteen in Chennai. The video was filmed by the relative of a patient.”

The video is going viral as people had a lot to say about the clip. Most took a dig at government facilities where people have witnessed something similar quite a few times in the recent months, while others pointed out the gravity of the situation with rats infesting hospital food. The video was shared today and pulled views in hundreds.
Taking to the internet, people shared their take on the matter and took shots at the authorities for their carelessness. “Rats, Mutta Poochi, cockroaches, stray dogs, and mosquitos are highly common in all Govnt Hospitals across India. You can shoot a series for discovery channel. Yes, it's bad, but what can be the solution any insights??” a user said. “Too many rats are eating away too many things... no one bothered to check those details all these years... why take vengeance on this rat alone?” added a next.
