Delhi Rains: With the National Capital all set to celebrate the much-awaited festival of Diwali amid a ‘severe plus’ category AQI, the unexpected rainfall on the night of November 09 and on the morning of November 10 ended up bringing a heavenly relief in Delhi. Calling it a ‘blessing’ by the Gods on the day of the Dhanteras festival, Delhiites were quick to rejoice amid the downpour as they welcomed the Delhi rains with open arms. As soon as the much-needed shower hit the ground, the AQI fell to the ‘very poor’ category with 376 at 9 AM, as per SAFAR in Delhi. From clear buildings to better air to breathe, social media was flooded with the netizens counting the ‘blessings’ that Delhi and adjoining areas received after the rainfall. 

Amid all this, in desperate attempts to improve Delhi’s condition, the Delhi government is reportedly planning to try out ‘artificial rain’ in collaboration with IIT Kanpur on November 20. Earlier, stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) was also implemented in Delhi on November 05. 

Taking to the internet, people began to share videos and photos of a much cleaner Delhi with visibility better than before. Many thanked the Gods for the unexpected but much-needed rain and pointed out that ‘rain’ on the days of Diwali and Dhanteras are ‘rare’. A few also shared memes on the same as they celebrated the ‘heavenly’ shower.

“AQI so good that you can literally see Rashtrapati Bhawan from India gate,” user said. 

“The much needed... Such a fresh breath!! It's windy, rains all the way in various parts of #Delhi #Gurgaon #Rohtak #Faridabad #Noida #Ghaziabad. #AQI going down naturally. Thank you western disturbance! #DelhiRains,” a second user said. 

“Good news: Few more systems approaching Delhi NCR and north India. Intermittent moderate Rainfall possible over parts of #Delhi, #Panjab, #Haryana, north #Rajasthan, #Himachal, #Jammu #Kashmir, #Uttrakhand during next 24 hours,” added a third person. 

“The sanity of the Western Disturbances,” added a next. 

“The #DelhiRains are finally here at East Delhi - Ghaziabad Border but will be there for a short while only and intensity will be light only. Bit rare for Delhi to get rain on #Diwali and #Dhanteras,” added a fifth person.
