Azima Ihsan shared the viral video on her official Instagram account, @azima_ihsan, with a powerful caption. She reflected on how divorce is often seen as a “death sentence” for women in the Pakistani community, with many predicting regret and an unhappy future for her. However, she defied those expectations, embracing joy and resilience instead. "The judgment still comes, but guess what? I dance through it. I laugh through it. Life isn’t as bad as I was told it would be. The opposite actually," she wrote, inspiring many with her fearless outlook.
Azima Ihsan challenged the stigma around divorce, calling it a fresh start rather than a failure. She admitted it was a difficult journey but emphasized that staying in an unhappy marriage was far worse. For her and her three kids, divorce meant freedom, and even for her ex-husband, it was the right choice. She wrapped up her post with an empowering message, "Marriage should be built on love and respect, not fear of stigma. I see too many Pakistani women sacrificing themselves just to avoid that “divorced” label. To them, I say: Your happiness matters. Sukoon (peace) matters. Life goes on. Don’t be afraid. Two years post-divorce, I’m living proof—you can simultaneously cry, heal, and then DANCE like nobody’s watching."
The video, shared two days ago, has already garnered 1.4 million views, sparking widespread reactions from social media users. Many were quick to share their thoughts, with some applauding her confidence and others debating the message behind her dance.
One user wrote, "Ahhhh, God protect your happiness and peace, and may you never encounter anyone who dulls that aura." Another commented, "Divorce is not a taboo. It’s a way to break free from toxic relationships, including mental and physical abuse. If someone finds happiness in leaving such a situation, they have every right to celebrate however they choose." A third user praised her confidence, saying, "You are incredible! So empowering! I’m so proud of you, babe."
