Viral Video: India might be one of the most diverse countries in the world, with people of every skin colour thriving at different corners of the country, YET, it surely had its fair share of deep-rooted ‘racism’ and that’s just too sad. More than often, a questionable incident or video takes over social media, where people have been seen being mean to others just based on their skin colours. Sadly, lengthening the list, another video came forward, where a man of colour was being beaten up by his landlord, along with a few other men with sticks. A video of the incident was shared on social media by the man’s sister, which went viral and left people disappointed and irked at the same time.
As per the viral post, the reason behind the violence was that the said Indian landlord was not aware that the victim, his tenant, was a ‘man of colour’. Due to this, not only did the landlord beat the man up, but also kicked him out of the apartment in the middle of the night, as per the post. The men beating up the tenant were also seen threatening the woman for recording the clip, meanwhile, the date and location of the incident could not be confirmed.
The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘Grimmer2666541’. The post was captioned, “My first trauma in India as black was when my big brother got kicked out of his house in the middle of the night by his landlord because he didn’t know that my brother was black. He said- I do not let my house be rented by blacks.”

The video, soon after being shared, went viral on social media and gained a mixed reaction. Some people sympathised with the man and the woman who was recording the incident, while the rest extended an apology over the matter. Many also chastised the landlord over the incident, meanwhile, a handful took sides with the questionable landlord. The post was shared two days ago and pulled 477K views from netizens.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “What ur facing here is nothing new for a large section of Indians too. We have people from lower Communities called as Dalits/tribes/backwards facing such discrimination & attrocites since 1000s of years. Feel sorry for what ur facing..wish we could Change,” a user said. “Not surprising considering they are racist towards their own people with darker skin tones,” said a second.
“Wrong on so many levels. These guards need to be punished,” said a third person. “I wouldn’t be surprised. There is too much racism in India. The police are corrupt also,” commented a fourth netizen.
“I am sorry you had to go through this. I've been treated with nothing but love and respect on my trips to African countries. All I can say is, we are not all like this. Though it's getting harder and harder to find good folks among us,” added another.
