Domino’s Japan recently hit the trends on the internet for all the wrong reasons, after a video of a staff member picking his nose and wiping it on the pizza dough was shared online. The video, understandably, went viral on the internet and left netizens gagging and questioning Domino’s Japan’s hygiene and food safety protocols. The incident, as per reports by The Japan Times, took place in Hyogo Prefecture, at the Amagasaki store. 

As soon as the video began to make troubling headlines, the food giant, without wasting a second, came forward to control the damage caused by the ‘disgusting’ clip. The brand issued an ‘official apology’, as per The Japan Times. Meanwhile, the staff member responsible for the controversy was terminated. As per the reports, the man apparently thought that the video would be ‘funny’, whereas the pizza dough used for the ‘fun’ trick was later ‘disposed of’. 

Domino’s Japan, on the other hand, went on to assure the public of taking the matter seriously. Meanwhile, the said store has also been ‘temporarily closed’. 

The said video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the user ‘mrjeffu’. The post was captioned, “Domino's Japan has apologised after someone uploaded a video that appears to show one of its employees picking his nose whole kneading pizza dough. The branch in question (in Amagasaki) was swiftly closed and the people involved may face legal action.”

The video, soon after getting shared, went viral on social media. Most people called it ‘disgusting’ and demanded action, while the rest pointed out that the man used different fingers for the ‘trick’. The post was shared a few days ago and pulled 75K likes from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Absolutely reprehensible, but also Domi-nose is pretty funny,” a user said. “Pro Tip: If you call Domino’s corporation and yell and complain they will give you a coupon for free pizza,” joined a second person. “I knew all restaurants won’t be 100% clean…But I still don’t understand why they video what they did, and upload it to SNS.  There are so many cases that the person who did it completely ruin their future. Why?” said a third. 

“Isn’t he using his index finger to touch his nose and then his middle finger to touch the dough? Same silly trick my brother would play on me when we were little,” said another. “Well, then do not check what happens in juice and sugar factories,” joined a fifth. 

“Did they not learn from the worker who stood on the lettuce?” added a sixth. “He touched a different finger but it's worse,” said another.
