Viral Video: There used to be a time when people considered SUVs like Thar, Fortuner, and Scorpio a representation of class and decency. However, in the last few years, it seems like the same image has taken a 180-degree turn as now, many see such cars and their drivers as mere ‘showoffs'. The belief has nothing to do with the brand or how well the vehicles run, but has rather to do with how people treat such cars and how many have turned these names into stunt cars and such. Proving the same correct, a video was shared on social media, where some people rented a Thar in Jaipur- only to pull deadly stunts. A video of the same was shared on social media, which went viral.
The clip showed the vehicle pulling stunts on railway tracks, while people around the vehicle- including some uniformed men- were looking for a chance to capture the driver. However, the driver eventually managed to run away, leaving people recording them and discussing the number plate of the car.
The clip went viral and drew many reactions. Most people chastised the Thar driver for the recklessness, while some even generalised the poor behaviour of such drivers and ‘car enthusiasts’.
The car video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘ShivrattanDhil1’. The post was captioned, “Yesterday in Jaipur, some guys rented a Thar and were performing stunts on a live railway track. Seeing such posts every day really makes me feel like starting a campaign to teach people what 4x4 is actually about!” The video was shared two days ago and pulled 555K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Suspend his driving license permanently and punish him,” a user said. “THAR users generally have a certain IQ and mentality both of which are not useful for the society or their family. I hate generalisations but I have seen 99% THAR. Users in this category and 1% are pleasant exceptions. THAR is personification of Chapari ness,” added a second person.
“Yesterday night just in front of me a black Thar hit a sedan on the side and moved ahead like nothing happened in Bangalore. You can’t expect anything better from these morons,” added a third person. “The Mahindra vehicles especially Thar & Scorpio and Toyota’s Fortuner/legender have become a symbol of gunda or chappri culture in India,” added another.
