DYK Japanese Made Ramayana In 1993? Know About The Movie That Even PM Modi Praised

It’s just a few days left before India will witness one of the most grand ceremonies of its time; the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. With the ceremony being just around the corner, the Ram Temple, along with every detail and report regarding it, is ruling the headlines. From the ceremony itself, and guest list to the invitation cards, anything and everything that has anything to do with the holy temple is currently on the centre stage on social media. Amid all this, an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising a hit film is crushing the trends, as the movie is worth the hype- Yugo Sako’s ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’.

‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’ was released in 1993, and instantly became a hit. The impact was so huge, that people still call it the best ‘Ramayana’ movie of all time. But what is further unique about the film is that it was made by a Japanese film director- Yugo Sako. He, of course, also took help from Indian animators while working on the film, with the aim of perfecting the representation of the Indian ideologies in the animated movie. And the result that came out in the form of the film still has its magic over people. 

Now, with just days left before the world welcomes another grand temple dedicated to Lord Ram, people are recalling the time when PM Modi praised the film in 2022. The movie was mentioned after the PM came back from a visit to Japan. The PM opened up about a ‘meeting’ on the 89th edition of his ‘Mann ki Baat’ show on May 29, 2022, where he shared about meeting Atsushi Matsuo and Kenji Yoshi. The said Japanese talents were from the production company that was involved in the making of the ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’; TEM Production Company.

PM Modi left no stone unturned in praising the animators and filmmakers, as he also mentioned the excessive and in-depth research that was done before the making of the beloved film. Yugo Sako reportedly read 10 Japanese versions of the epic Rayanma before putting it on the screen. 

All in all, the film was a masterpiece not only because it was based on the hailed Hindu epic Ramayana, but also because the makers made sure of its success through their work. 

With the Ram temple ceremony on its way, it's only obvious that the old video of PM Modi talking about it all is going viral once again.

The ceremony, on the other hand, will take place on January 22 in the holy city of Ayodhya. It will reportedly begin at 12:20 pm and will witness the presence of some of the most prominent faces from all across the country. A number of VVIPs and VIPs, and reportedly 4000 seers have been invited to the ceremony.
