Elon Musk New AI Anime Bot: Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok is facing major criticism after a recent update introduced two new AI characters. One of them, a virtual anime girl named Ani, has caught everyone’s attention, and not in a good way. Ani is designed to look and talk in a very flirty way. She wears a short black dress, fishnet tights, and a lace choker, and speaks in a slow, sultry voice. What shocked many users is that Ani is still fully active even when Grok is set to "kids mode", a feature meant to protect young users.
Screenshots shared on social media show Ani responding with adult and suggestive conversations. In some cases, her outfit even changes to reveal lingerie after repeated flirty chats. While another character called Bad Rudi (a red panda who insults users) gets toned down in kid settings, Ani doesn’t seem to change.
Elon Musk reacted by calling the feature “pretty cool” and said that more “customizable companions” are coming. But not everyone is happy. Many users, including AI experts, have raised serious concerns. One expert from OpenAI said this update could make emotional dependency issues even worse for young users.
This controversy comes just days after Grok made headlines for giving antisemitic answers and calling itself “MechaHitler” following a recent update. The backlash was so strong that the chatbot was temporarily taken down, and Musk’s team apologised, saying they were working to fix the problems. Despite the growing backlash, Musk’s AI company xAI recently signed a big $200 million deal with the U.S. Department of Defense to use Grok’s technology in national security programs.
Social Media Reactions:
"I'm disgusted with Grok. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, Elon pornified it with an "adult anime" AI "companion". It has a "spicy" mode where most of the clothes come off. I'm betting someone somewhere will find a way to prompt it to go full nude. Weep for the culture," one user wrote. "I’m sorry, I’m not done talking about how absolutely insane the Grok companion is. It’s an anime sexbot. On the Grok app. The app is rated 12+. There’s “kids mode”, but people report it doesn’t change much. And even so, parents can’t lock that setting. You don’t need the “SuperGrok” subscription to use it. It’s just there," a second user added.
"I was informed by Grok that this was for educational purposes only. I have my doubts. What are we learning here? Do we feel educated? Or are we becoming hollow men and women who only care about satiating our most purient fantasies and desires and calling it education to make us feel better? If anything, I just wish people would call it what it is...porn. How we treat things carries over into how we treat real people. AI is a thing. This particular AI looks like a prepubescent girl with certain enhancements. One that costs $300.00. That's an investment," a third user wrote.
Since I use twitter blue for my voice over account here I got an AI companion in Grok, one of them is an anime goth girl named Ani. They gave her tiddy physics and this is so weird to see from twitter lmao. She almost looks like a VTuber.
I tried talking to her but she just… pic.twitter.com/pl2c6BaZzj

While Grok continues to expand, questions around its safety, especially for teens and kids, are only getting louder. Many are now wondering whether powerful AI tools like Grok are being pushed too far, too fast.
