Fake Wedding Trend: Forget big fat Indian weddings with real couples, the latest party craze sweeping metro cities is all about fake wedding celebrations. Yes, you read that right. People are now throwing wedding-style parties with all the glam and drama, but without anyone actually getting married. These events come packed with all the fun stuff, colourful ethnic outfits, dhol beats, sangeet performances, and delicious wedding-style food. You’ll even see ‘baraat-style entries,’ ‘mock varmala exchanges,’ and a ‘pretend pandit’ blessing the couple, who, by the way, aren’t a real couple at all.
A video going viral on Instagram shows just how much fun these fake weddings can be. A content creator shared the clip with a cheeky question: “Will you attend this wedding? What’s your POV? Is it just a fad or will it be a business model?”
Some of these events are ticketed, while others are more low-key, happening at college campuses, rooftops, or bars. But the idea remains the same: enjoy the wedding vibe without the stress, money, or emotional drama. It’s no surprise that Gen Z is loving this trend. It blends creativity, community, and celebration. And with Insta-worthy moments everywhere, these fake weddings are becoming the coolest way to party.
