International Cat Day: Cat people, assemble! Yes, the day is finally here when you can openly celebrate your furry babies- your cats- officially. If you already haven’t guessed it, today is the day that celebrates your ‘feisty felines’; International Cat Day. The adorable day is celebrated every year on August 08, which reportedly aims to raise awareness about cats. The day also encourages people to learn more about cats and ways through which one can ‘help and protect’ them. It goes without saying that as the day began, cat lovers (or human slaves) woke up with extra love for their ‘furry owners’, along with a whole lot of excitement, and their reactions on social media platforms for today is the very proof of the same.
The day was created by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, which has become an annual celebration since 2002. Coming back to the ‘cat preaching’ that is going on, on the internet, from adorable videos to photos- people are celebrating the day in all the ways possible. Most people shared pictures of their own cats and wished others a happy international cat day, while others shared pictures of the furry ones in general. Some also shared hilarious videos that were associated with cats.
Taking to social media, people shared their take on the International Cat Day.
“Today is International Cat Day,” a user said.

Along with cat people all around the world, Google also hopped in to celebrate the day. ‘How’, you ask? Well, if you Google ‘International Cat Day’, the page will give you the option to click on a ‘paw’ button.

Once you click on the ‘paw’, a cat’s paw will ‘slide into’ your ‘screen’ and will leave an adorable cat paw mark behind. Once you are done with all the cat paw prints, you can simply click on the ‘X’ mark at the bottom of your screen to wash the prints away.
