Viral Video: Until a few decades ago, the possibility of the ‘VIP culture’ in temples would have instead left people confused. After all, everyone- regardless of their social status- is supposed to be equal in the eyes of the All Mighty. However, the same theory went for a long toss, as one’s status can- very much- decide the manner in which the devotee will get to visit the temple. All in all, the VIP culture has become way too common in temples in the last few years. The queue to finally bow head at the feet of one’s much-preached idol might be long for a non-VIPs, but for a VIP, the story is rather opposite. Social media has been witnessing far too many instances that proved the above said.

Adding to the list, another incident came forward, where some ‘non-VIP’ devotees were seen being brutally manhandled by the temple staff reportedly at Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja Temple. A video was shared online, where two staff members were seen rudely pushing the devotees away, once they were done with their visit. Needless to say, the clip soon pulled many reactions where the majority called such incidents a result of ‘temples being commercialised’. The date of the incident could not be confirmed.

The video, after getting shared, went viral and pulled all kinds of reactions. Most chastised the temple staff for their behaviour, while the rest complained about facing similar manhandling in popular temples.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘TheCineprism’. The post was captioned, “Two Indias #LalbaugChaRaja.” The video was shared yesterday and pulled more than 35K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Never see this type of situation in a common temple where things are not commercialised like this. Or where these VIPs don't come. It’s always the temple where tickets, visit timings and such tactics are being used,” a user said. “This just makes me really sad. The way these people are behaving is unacceptable,” added another.

“Also I see most ppl there are to capture a snapshot than to actually worship,” added a second person. “The Ganesh festival and the mandala, in general, are so much commercialised these days that I just feel that everyone must stick to gathering and celebrating the idols in their home and society and save oneself from such manhandled behaviour,” added another.
