When it comes to a journey that is pretty much unknown, people usually prefer Google Maps for the basic information on what they might encounter. From the time that will be taken in covering the said journey to possible blockages like traffic jams and more, reliance on Google Maps has seemingly turned into a ‘standard procedure’ that is bound to take place, regardless of what place one is travelling to. Doing something similar, a man got ready to cover his 1.45 hours of journey to the airport in Bengaluru, only to realise that the actual time taken to complete the trip turned out to be a good 3 hours. Needless to say, the man ended up missing his flight, resulting in him blaming Google Maps for the ‘miscalculation’.

Taking to social media, the man was quick to narrate the entire matter, which went viral. He called the issue ‘relative’, and thanked the Mumbai authorities for not letting its citizens face such traffic issues, unlike how the same happened with him in Bengaluru.

The post went viral and left people intrigued enough to engage. Most netizens shared hilarious jokes on traffic problems in Bengaluru, while the rest recalled their own similar instances. Some also advised the man to rather wait at the airport from next time.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘LuckyInvest_ARK’. The post was captioned, “Yesterday I missed my flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai because the journey took 3 hours instead of 1.45 as shown by Google Maps. Deeply grateful to the Mumbai administration @mybmc for investing in infrastructure to keep traffic moving in the maximum city. Life is relative.” The post was shared today and pulled 103K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Recently, Google predictions have become quite unreliable. Always ask a local if the weather condition is not good in any part of the city,” a user said. “Were you coming from some ‘awfis’ in Bangalore?” commented a second person.

“Cabbies in B'luru should compulsorily offer washroom breaks in between rides (just like overnight buses do),” added a third person. “Sir, blaming Bangalore or Google Maps? Pls give clarity,” added a fourth person. “I think Bangalore is the only place where you can't rely on the travel time shown on Google Maps. Rarely happens in Gurgaon. (Even though I used to commute to Delhi every day),” added another.
