Viral Video: Restaurants with certain dress codes are not something new. In fact, the practice has been going on for a long time and several dinners are even known for specific codes when it comes to the attire of their guests. Facing something similar, a man went viral on social media for being denied entry to a restaurant in Mumbai’s Juhu. The reason for the rejection was that the said man was wearing a veshti, which, for those unaware, is an ‘unstitched cloth’ wrapped around the lower body as part of traditional attire. However, what made the matter further viral was that this incident took place in ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s restaurant, One8 Commune. 

The man was quick to make a video of his experience as he described the entire thing in it, which immediately went viral and left social media divided. 

The video was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘Sandy_Offfl’. The post was captioned, “Person with Veshti was not allowed in @imVkohli 's Restaurant. Very nice day.”

The video is widely doing rounds on social media as people had a lot to react to. The internet was mostly divided as many sided with the cricketer and recalled similar rules that are followed in many restaurants, while others opposed the restaurant rules and dubbed them ‘anti-Tamil culture’. The post was shared two days back and pulled 1.9M views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “It's nothing against your culture..they have denied me entry in shorts and slippers because it's their dress code which has to be followed to enter... Whether to have a code or not can be a topic of debate..but don't make it a topic of- being against culture,” said a user. “Came prepared with rode wireless mic and camera?.” asked a second person. “Kohli is the security guard? Don't tag him,” added a third person. “Ramraj cotton ka hai nahi batana tha (Ramraj cotton part was not required),” said a fourth.

“Dress code. Many high-end restaurants follow. Nothing against your particular attire. In many restaurants they rent suits and blazers,” said the next. “Their restaurant, their choice. Rights of admission reserved and dress code and can be chosen,” joined another.
