Viral Video: What might be a rare and terrifying tragedy in other countries and cities, is unfortunately turning into an ‘everyday occurrence’ for the ever-famous Mumbai local train; falling of passengers. Social media, in 2024 alone, has witnessed far too many videos where people were seen falling from trains due to overcrowding in Mumbai. Adding To the list, another incident came forward, where a passenger who was hardly standing inside the train, fell off the speeding Mumbai local after seemingly hitting a pole. The incident was captured by a passenger travelling in another train that was running parallel to the former one.
The fall surely left people shocked and terrified, whereas the update on the man’s well-being is still unknown. The date and the exact location of the incident could also not be confirmed. However, a few commented that the clip was of an old incident.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘MumRail’. The post was captioned, “To run a family we need Job, To save Job, have to attend office in time, To attend office we have to catch Train, To catch daily late, Overcrowded trains we have to risk our life. Family is more important than LIFE and for @RailMinIndia Mails and Express are more important Than Lives.”

Most people expressed their sympathies for the man, while the rest stressed on the increasing level of such cases, and dubbed it ‘terrifying’. Some also tagged authorities and demanded they work on eliminating the issue of overcrowding in trains and other public transport. The video was shared yesterday and pulled 526K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “This wasn’t the last train on earth. The problem is people don’t wish to wait for the next local. Yes, it's overcrowded but hanging like this is avoidable,” a user said. “The passengers travelling by local trains in Mumbai have been facing overcrowded trains issue for a long time now. The passengers are risking their lives to travel by local trains. This issue has to be resolved by taking it seriously. @PMOIndia,” added a second person.
“This is very distressing to see also.. frequency of the trains should be increased, an alternate mode of transport should be there. People should catch hold of their MP and MLAs,” commented next. “More & More Trains should be deployed for Mumbai for Local people/Local Trains & decrease the time of Long travel passenger trains and start more local trains and adjust the timings so no one would suffer after work,” added another.
