Mangalore Viral Video: These days, taking the laws into one’s own hands- especially in public- has become far too common in India. Such a form of ‘justice’ is becoming common in especially teaching a lesson to women harassers. Adding yet another similar incident to the list, a video came forward from Karnataka’s Mangalore, where a man was being publicly thrashed over alleged harassment accusations. The video showed a group of women aggressively confronting the said man, who was a shopkeeper, in front of a shop. The man was slapped repetitively by the women, while they also continued to shout at him. As per the viral video, the shopkeeper was allegedly harassing a woman through late-night inappropriate calls. Meanwhile, the date of the incident could not be confirmed.
As the video went viral, people gave mixed reactions. Some found the violence against the man ‘befitting’ and justified, while a few suggested handing him over to the police, and criticised the women for taking laws into their own hands.
The Mangalore video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘karnatakaportf’. The post was captioned, “An incident took place in Koolur, Mangalore, where a young man was slapped by a group of women after being accused of harassing a young woman by making an inappropriate video call late at night. The man, who works at a local general store, reportedly behaved rudely during the call. The confrontation was captured on video, sparking debates about harassment and the way the situation was handled.” The video was shared a few days ago and pulled more than 20K views from people.

Talking to the comments section, people shared their take. “Men like this deserve belt treatment. They think the world is some lalaland where people run according to their books,” a user said. “Suddenly this specific person also started creating a nuisance, what a timing. Well-deserved slaps,” added another.
“Along with the culprit, I hope the Police arrested these three people for taking the law into their own hands,” added another. “Nothing to debate. His harassment should've probably been dealt with more severely,” commented another. “Durga power ... Right start...level 1 treatment....name and shame his shop and entire family for raising such a pervert,” added another.
