Matcha Fried Rice Food Experiment: Matcha in fried rice? Yep, someone actually tried it, and the internet can’t handle it. While matcha has already found its way into lattes, desserts, and pastries, this latest combo has left people totally confused and, honestly, a bit horrified. A viral Instagram video shared by @foodmakescalhappy shows a man cooking fried rice with a twist. He adds matcha powder to a hot pan of rice, then mixes in eggs, garlic, soy sauce, miso, wasabi, and spring onions. The greenish rice looks bold, but the taste? Not so much.

After trying it, even the creator didn’t seem thrilled. In the caption, he wrote, “Matcha fried rice, sigh.” The unexpected combo has sparked a wave of reactions online. The video has been viewed over 99k times and has received thousands of likes and comments. People can’t decide if it’s funny, weird, or just plain wrong. Some are laughing, others are calling it a "food crime."

"Too much matcha Liao... You need to pair something sweet and sour, maybe," a user wrote. "Definitely too much of a good thing, bro. Matcha usually is like 1-2 teaspoons. I can imagine with appropriate portions, it would be a rendition of the Hakka Lei Cha (Thunder Tea Rice). Should be quite good, lej," a second user wrote. "There was too much green," added another user.

"Brawwww I have the same matcha and was thinking to cook matcha fried rice last week," wrote another user. "Not the kind of greens I imagined for rice," added another user.
