People surely are working on reducing gender-based harassment in workplaces with every passing day, but the fact that the ‘achievement’ so far is simply not enough is terrifying for women employees all around the world. Despite hundreds of initiatives, schemes and policies to protect women from workplace harassment, people still witness such cases on an everyday basis. Adding to the list, a Pakistani woman opened up about a similar incident, where she was being expected to do ‘special tasks’ for her boss.
Taking to social media, the woman in question shared a text chain between her and a company’s hiring manager, where the manager was seen asking the woman to spend ‘quality time’ with the boss. Horrified by the incident, the woman expressed her shock and disbelief on the internet. As per the woman, the company she applied for was a prestigious one in her country.
As soon as the post went viral, the woman received a response from the company itself. As per the mail from the organisation the girl applied for, the man responsible for the matter had nothing to do with the company. The response further informed that a legal action has been initiated against the accused. The company also suggested the woman to only connect with the official website of the brand to avoid such misunderstandings.
The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle 'dinatweets_'. The post was captioned, “Being a girl in Pakistan is too difficult! I applied for a job on the Indeed website, which was for fresh graduates, and this is the message I received. It's unbelievable!! Who knows how many innocent girls they must have taken advantage of? When a fresh graduate looks for a job, they either encounter disgusting people or those with wealthy parents who get in through references. This country is hell!”

“Response from GiGA group saying that person is not related to our corp. But the responsibility lies with Giga group to check upon sm for their misrepresentation,” the company’s response read.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Giga group is a big name in the market. What a shame,” a user said. “They clearly mentioned special tasks so better to ignore these kinds of positions if you're not interested. It's so sad to see most people prefer these kinds of jobs because they don't want to do anything else... Good to see you are speaking about this,” added a second person.
“Wtf, at least he already warned you.. Imagine if you didn't know any of it and the boss wanted quality time,” wrote another. “Also call them out on LinkedIn, get support from the community so we can warn others,” suggested a fourth user. “File an appeal for harassment with the federal ombudsperson. It's the safest & quickest way to get justice. They will have to pay for this,” added another.
