Tabo Monastery Viral Video: A viral video has reignited the debate on the lack of ‘civic sense’ among some Indian tourists, especially when visiting peaceful destinations or foreign countries. The clip, shot at Tabo Monastery in Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley, captures a man loudly yelling, “Mummy, I’ve reached Tabo Monastery!”—all for the sake of an Instagram reel. Another woman, seemingly a fellow tourist, was recording the scene.

However, the act didn’t sit well with many, as a woman called him out for his complete disregard for the sanctity of the religious site. The incident sparked outrage online, with people questioning the obsession with social media over respect for cultural and spiritual places.

The viral video was posted on Instagram by the user ‘What's in a name’ with the caption, "Typical tourist behaviour and why Indian tourists are looked down upon," criticizing typical tourist behaviour and why Indian tourists often face criticism. A text overlay on the clip reads, "Civic and common sense is flushed down the drain." Shared three days ago, the video has already racked up 349K views, sparking a heated debate online.

The viral video sparked a flood of reactions online. One user criticized the behavior, writing, “Bruh, the fact that some Indians don’t even see what’s wrong here is hilarious. Have some common sense—no one shouts like this at a temple. If they did, the next day, people would call it anti-Hindu or anti-national. If you wouldn’t do it in a temple, don’t do it in a monastery.” Another user linked it to Bhutan’s strict tourism policies, commenting, “Hope people now understand why the Bhutanese government imposed a ₹1,200 per day charge per person and ₹4,000 per vehicle for Indian tourists. Thanks for the video.”

One user humorously expressed frustration, writing, “The overwhelming desire to let a tight slap resonate through the valley, instantly transforming chaos into a peaceful retreat—nature’s own mute button.” Another user criticized the behavior, saying, “Most Indians don’t even know how to respect other religions… so what can you expect from these ‘chapri’ tourists?” A different commenter identified the man, stating, “That guy is from Indore. He first got famous for yelling at a Poha stall, and then made it his USP—now he just screams in videos for no reason.”
