Russian Woman Viral Post: A Russian woman living in Bengaluru has won hearts online by sharing her experiences of working in India for the past 12 years. Iuliia Aslamova, who calls herself "India's bahu" on Instagram, posted about the unique aspects of Indian office culture that surprised her when she first started her career. Her post quickly went viral, reaching over 24,000 followers.

Iuliia said she was touched by how caring her colleagues were in the early days. “When I started my career in India 12 years ago, I was amazed when my colleagues used to care and ask me if I had my breakfast, tea/coffee, and lunch,” she wrote, calling it a “super sweet and welcoming restart” to her professional journey. She noticed several quirks that are typical in Indian workplaces. Employees often stayed late until their managers left and late-night calls or emails were seen as normal. She also spoke about long daily commutes, sometimes lasting “two hours one way to reach the office.”

Another interesting aspect she observed was the way people communicate. Directly saying “no” is often avoided and offices frequently celebrate festivals together. “Hosting pujas and celebrating together makes so much sense since we spend most of our time with colleagues,” Iuliia said. She was impressed by how Indians start saving and investing from their first salary. “It used to be truly amazing and inspiring with the planning and being so well financially educated from a young age,” she added.

Looking back, Iuliia reflected warmly on her journey. “With years of working together, team members truly turn into friends for a lifetime. I really got my new family through my journey of 12 years in India. All thanks to my work,” she concluded, highlighting the lasting bonds she built over more than a decade.

The post received love and appreciation from social media users. "Mostly correct observations," a user wrote. "Ah! You are the first foreign national to understand this," a second user wrote. "I don't think Indians are very good in terms of investments. Knowledge about investments, sadly, is a bit lacking but I see the improvement, so it's only a matter of time before it becomes common practice rather than a rarity these days," wrote a third user.

"That’s a sharp observation. I do enjoy the festival celebrations. When you overwork, there are a few days that help you to balance that frustration. The late-night emails, messages and work calls do annoy you. When you come from the office, you need some time to disconnect from work completely so that you can spend some time on workouts or cooking or reading or simply just watching Netflix. Your brain need that break. A lot of times I missed that own time on weekdays. Some office even keeps you occupied on weekends too. The more you go up in the ladder, the more pressure you feel. Not healthy. I really enjoyed first few years of my career where you do your work and come home after completing office hours. But that did not last long," added a fourth user.
