IndiGo Viral Video: A routine flight from Delhi to Lucknow turned into a nerve-wracking experience for a passenger when his seat suddenly started swaying just moments after takeoff. The unexpected movement left him shaken, prompting him to record and share the incident on Instagram.
The passenger, identified as Daksh Rathi, an educational consultant, captured a video showing himself and two others seated in a row when their seats began swinging uncontrollably. In the clip, Rathi describes the experience as terrifying, expressing his shock and concern over the malfunction.
In the video, Sethi described the alarming moment, saying, “As soon as the flight took off, everyone was busy with their own activities when, out of nowhere, our three seats jerked backward. It was an unsettling experience—like a sudden free fall in midair. It truly felt like a mini heart attack.” He further shared in the video that he had never encountered anything like this before, not even during turbulence. Describing the severity of the issue, he stated that the seats were not just reclining but could actually swing back and forth.
In the caption, Sethi praised the crew for their prompt response, stating, “The crew handled the situation well by relocating us to vacant seats at the back of the plane. It was only later that I realized how serious the issue actually was. They even called the maintenance team to inspect it during deboarding.” He further emphasised the potential risk, adding, “It may not seem like a big issue, but I wouldn’t want an elderly passenger with a medical condition to experience this on a flight.”

As the video gained traction online, the airline took notice and swiftly responded. Apologising for the unsettling experience, the company assured Rathi that the issue was being taken seriously and that necessary actions would be implemented to prevent such occurrences in the future. "Mr. Sethi, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We sincerely apologise for your onboard experience. Apparently, this was an anomaly (sic), a very unusual occurrence as these seats have a locking mechanism,” the airline wrote,
“Please be assured that your feedback is being taken extremely seriously and this will be investigated thoroughly. We understand our crew responded promptly to address the situation and provided you with an alternate seat. The safety and comfort of our customers remain our top priority. We appreciate your feedback and assure you of our continued commitment to providing a safe, hassle-free, and enjoyable travel experience to all our customers. ~Team IndiGo,” the airline added. The video shared a few hours ago has received 192K views from social media users.
