Passengers looked surprised but soon couldn’t help smiling at the unexpected co-passenger. Some commuters gently petted the dog, while others took out their phones to record the wholesome moment. According to reports, the stray boarded the train at Girish Park station on the south-bound blue line. Despite the crowd, it remained calm and well-behaved, moving politely from one coach to another.

People online praised the kindness of the passengers, who allowed the dog to travel peacefully instead of shooing it away. The video, shared widely on social media, left viewers emotional and thoughtful about how animals suffer during noisy festivities.

The ride ended safely when metro staff and the Railway Protection Force spotted the dog on CCTV and helped it off at Shahid Khudiram station. The video shared on Instagram by the handle 'baaj_pakhi' was captioned, "STREET DOG TRAVELING ON KOLKATA METRO." The video shared three days ago received 879k views from Instagram users.

Netizens were quick to react to the viral video. "Happy to see, though, that people did not treat him badly," a user wrote. "He is more civilised than some people," a second user wrote. "Although this looks harmless. The dog, meanwhile, is getting displaced. This will be life-changing for him. Challenging for his survival, to say the least. Not encouraging," wrote a third user.
