Yes, and if you don’t believe that, then allow us to take you on a ‘journey’ to some of the biggest railway stations in the world, that not only spoke volumes when it came to their architecture but were also so vast that they ended up etching their names in the history.

We have found a list of the world's biggest railway stations, and what surprised us the most was that offices today might be too modern and high tech, but the 1900s and 1800s structures, undoubtedly, still rule the railways section of the world. The list was compiled by ‘discoveryuk’.

Grand Central Terminal

With a ‘fleet’ of 44 ‘platforms’ under its wings, New York’s Grand Central Terminal is the biggest railway station in the world. It was opened back in 1913. 

Gare du Nord

On the second spot on the list of the biggest railway stations in the world, we have Paris’ Gare du Nord. The station has 36 platforms and was opened in 1846. 

Shinjuku Station

With 35 platforms under its roof, Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station is the third largest railway station in the world. The station was opened in 1885. 

Roma Termini

The next on the list says a lot about its place based on the name- Roma Termini. This station in Rome was opened in 1862 and has 33 platforms. 

Beijing Fengtai

This is the first and the only, which is way too new in comparison to the previous ones on the list. The Fengtai railway station in Beijing, was made in 2022 and has 32 platforms. 

Central Railway Station

With 28 platforms, the next on the list is from Australia. The Central Railway Station was opened in 1906 and is in Sydney. 

Waterloo

Who doesn’t know about Waterloo? This station with 24 platforms is in the UK’s London and was opened in 1848.

In the eighth position, we have India’s Howrah Junction. With 23 platforms, the grand station was opened back in 1854 in West Bengal.
