Bengaluru Man Reddit Post: Imagine living in a city like Bengaluru and suddenly getting hit with a fine, not for noise, not for parking, but because some friends stayed over. That’s exactly what happened to a Reddit user who recently shared his experience online, and the story quickly grabbed people’s attention. According to his post, he and his flatmate were shocked when their housing society sent them an invoice of Rs 5,000. The reason written on the bill was unusual: 'Two girls stayed overnight.' The society claimed the incident took place on October 31, and the invoice was issued on November 1.

The surprising part? The society has a rule that bachelors cannot have overnight guests, while families face no such restriction. The resident explained, "Basically, our society has a rule that bachelors are not allowed to have guests overnight, but no restriction for family. We pay the same maintenance and everything."

He said this was the first time anything like this had happened, and there wasn’t even a warning before the fine. He asked the Reddit community whether any legal steps could be taken or if there was any meaningful way to challenge the society’s rule. As he put it, “This is like the first violation and I didn't even get a warning. I know it's too small of an issue but it doesn't feel nice to be treated inferiorly… can I do anything meaningful so that they will reconsider this?”

Unfair Treatment of Bachelors in Society. Is there anything we can do to get fair treatment?

The post shared a few hours ago pulled significant reactions. People on Reddit responded with mixed views. Many agreed that the rule could probably be questioned legally, but most felt it might turn into a long and tiring fight with very little outcome.

"This shit isn’t enforceable, and if you had a lot of money and time, you could take them to court. Unfortunately, you probably don’t have the time or money for that - so the actionable thing you probably should do is find a new place to live," a user wrote. "I am not sure what made you to think like that. Because you can make the same argument as you listed in your post to make your point that it's ok for family but not for bachelors," a second user wrote.

"These visitor management apps that are enforced on apartment dwellers are just a way to invade the privacy of the residents. Even if they reduce the time taken to check people in and out of the buildings, they come at a huge personal cost," wrote a third user. "Okay, how do they even know that you had two girls over who stayed the night? Do they check in and out time, or do they monitor the cameras and shit?" asked another user.
