Kolkata Viral Video: As the unfortunate history repeated itself as thousands had to take the streets in protest against the horrifying RG Kar rape and murder case in Kolkata a few weeks back, it seems like the street protests eventually took a new and creative turn as people found a different way to show their strong stance against the delayed justice. Mokksha Sengupta, a dancer and an actor, turned out to be among the first few protesters, who displayed their anger through creativity. Sengupta grabbed the attention of the authorities and people through her powerful dance performance that she gave at a protest site. Her dance was performed to the song by poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, which only made it further appealing. Donning a saree and expressions that displayed rage, the actress’ performance was quick to go viral.

The dance video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘sheela2010’. The post was captioned, “Ongoing protests in Kolkata after the rape and death of the doctor at #RGKarMedicalCollegeHospital has created a kind of history in creative thinking, planning and execution of the street protests. It reminds some of the protests at Shaheen Baug in New Delhi.

Kolkata is taking the street protests to a new level. Resilience, creativity, and energy levels are unique. Respect for our Bengali youth!” The video was shared yesterday and pulled more than 8K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Would it happen ever in today’s Gujarat? However challenged the poor Gujjus would break into joyful garba under drowning waters as we saw in the recent past,” a user said. “Big salute to Moksha Sengupta ji,” added a second person.

“True. They showed the world how peacefully, without taking any single human life OR burning any buses or trains, the protests are done for 1 month or even more, with multiple other kinds of ideas using educated minds. That's the difference between protests by the educated group, which causes no harm to the public, and the uneducated groups, which cause multiple kinds of harm to the public,” added another.
