Viral Video: In recent years, cases of security guards getting assaulted by the residents of high-rise buildings have seen a dramatic increase. From abuse to physical assault, several related incidents were shared on social media which raised severe questions on the law and order situation against the ‘privileged’. Recently, in a similar case, a man ended up slapping a security guard of a residential building, the video of which was shared on social media. The video went viral as the reason behind the slap and the violence did not sit well with netizens. The guard was reportedly slapped for asking for the man’s identity for security purposes at the gate. The incident reportedly took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.
The video was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), by the user ‘Sushant Mukherjee’. The post was captioned in Hindi, which roughly translated to, “It is very easy to show strength on the weak. This was seen in Ramnagar, Varanasi, where a security guard, on suspicion of something, asked for his introduction. While doing his duty, he had to face abuses and slaps. The only question is, is this behaviour of this man like any other? Everyone knows that the powerful can answer #varanasi.”

The video immediately went viral and irked most people. From criticising the man to demanding action against him, netizens had a lot to react to. People also called out the increase in such incidents where the ‘rich’ were seen abusing the security guards in high-rise buildings for some of the most bizarre reasons.

Taking to the internet, people shared their take. “Arrest this man,” said a user. “The attacker could be from a local RW outfit like BD,” added another. “This type of person needs punishment. Touching feet and salute to guard for the next 60 days and twice a day,” added another user. “Imagine the guard situation after this, how he would be feeling. He would have communicated this with his family. How his parents, wife, and kids would be feeling,” said a next user.
“In UP a guard needs another guard to guard him from the rich and powerful,” added the next user. “We, as a society, need to introspect our EGO and ETHICS!” said another.
