What Is the Video Controversy Around Souri?

A section in Bangladesh believed that he had recorded the viral video that showed former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing Bangladesh amid the student uprising in 2024. Souri rejected the claims, which had changed his life. As the video emerged on social media, local news outlets claimed that Souri had leaked the video and also questioned his loyalty toward Bangladesh.

Souri's Podcast Interview Before His Death

A video clip of a podcast interview of Souri re-emerged on social media in which the former Bangladesh Air Force officer rejected all the allegations, asserting that he was pressured to resign under the Yunus-led interim government following allegations related to the video of Hasina's departure on 5 August 2024.

What Is RAW Connection Allegation?

As the video of Hasina's ousting went viral on social media, he was trolled as users accused him of having links with India's spy agency, RAW, which he repeatedly refuted. Souri rejected the RAW (India's spy agency) or foreign operative allegations as propaganda, asking why he would remain in Bangladesh and speak publicly if such claims were true.

In the podcast, he shared his personal and professional difficulties, social embarrassment, and trauma he faced after the reports were published. Souri also said that the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) directorate had given him a clean chit, rejecting his involvement in any anti-Bangladesh activities. However, the ex-BAF official did not produce any document to support his clarification.
