Viral Video: The rest of the world might need a ticket to watch a horror movie, but for North Koreans, it seems like the country's subway is enough to send a chill down their spines. A video proving the same was recently shared on the internet, which went viral almost immediately. The said clip was shared by a world traveller, Jesse Romberg, who visited the country a while back. Taking to social media, the traveller shared his experience, but what gained the most attention was a recent video that was recorded on a North Korean subway.
From creepy music to scary doors and from expressionless co-passengers to the overall vibe of the clip, the video had it all, that effortlessly made it look as if it was a scene straight out of a thriller film with a twisted end. The video, as per the viral post, was recorded in a subway station in Pyongyang.
The video was shared on the social media platform Instagram, by the user ‘homeless. backpacker’. The post was captioned, “From Pyongyang North Korea. This will be the most eerie thing you will see today. There are times while exploring the streets of North Korea that it will feel like you have gone back in time. This is absolutely one of those moments.”

The video went viral in a blink of an eye and left people with an eerie feeling. Most called it a scene straight out of a ‘horror film’, while the rest dubbed the entire video ‘creepy’. Some also recalled their own North Korea visits and ‘claimed’ that most people were ‘paid actors’ to deceive tourists. The post was shared a while back and pulled 145K likes from netizens.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Looks like a horror movie set,” a user said. “The music is probably saying, -All hail our great leader Kim. Everything in this country is wonderful. Tell your friends,” said a second person. “That damn door seems to have a personal grudge,” joined a third.
“When we went to Pyongyang, all of those people on the one- subway line- that was supposedly working, were all paid actors (sort of extras like in a film), paid to dress in their best and ride the train whenever tourists would arrive. They only allow tourists to travel to one station from one particular stop. Of course, you can see the truth easily. So funny!” added another.
“It feels like the set of a horror film somehow… like it’s not real,” commented a fifth. “North Korea is the world's largest open-air prison,” said another.
