Viral Video: When you spend Rs 59,000 (USD 700) on a meal that lasts five hours, you expect something truly special. One woman’s experience at Alchemist, a two-Michelin-star restaurant in Denmark, did offer that—though not in the way most would imagine. She shared a video of her unique dining experience, which quickly went viral, but not for the usual reasons.

Instead of the typical fine dining dishes, her meal was filled with strange items like edible butterflies, raw jellyfish, and even smashed chicken heads. Each dish was designed to make a statement about global issues like climate change, plastic waste, and animal cruelty. While some found the creative take on food thought-provoking, many were left confused and disturbed by the bizarre combination of art and food.

The video, shared months after the visit, sparked a debate online. Some applauded the restaurant's bold approach to storytelling through food, while others criticized it as excessive and pointless. Whatever the reaction, the meal at Alchemist certainly got people talking.

The viral video was shared on Instagram by the handle 'greenonionbun.' The post was captioned, "A more food-focused recap of my amazing dinner at Alchemist! I wanted to include even more details about taste and textures, but I was sadly constrained by the 3-minute video time limit. My meal was from May 2024, so the menu will differ depending on what’s in season." The video shared four days ago, has received 8.1 million views.

One user commented, "I think I’ve seen this before… Did they cook everyone into a s’more at the end?" Another user added, "People will literally eat anything if you convince them it’s trendy." A third user remarked, "There’s nothing sustainable about eating caviar off a butterfly." A fourth user wrote, "Spit those butterflies out right now, I’m serious! They deserved better than to be part of you. And what did you do with the cheese bugs? If you ate them alive, I’m gonna crash out, I’m serious."
